Club Info
A Little History:
In the fall of 1965, a few couples met in the garage of the Corcoran’s at 117 Oak Hollow Street in Conroe, Texas and had a jolly good time of Square Dancing. Mr. Robert Cross was the caller and the evening was enjoyed so much, it was decided to continue dancing in the garage during the winter. As more couples became interested in Square Dancing, it was necessary to find a larger place. Arrangements were made to use the Bowl-a-rama room at Moran Gas Company. In early February 1966, the group met in the Bowl-a-rama room and enjoyed an evening of Square Dancing and a discussion on forming a Square Dance Club in Conroe. At this meeting, February 24, 1966, the group voted to name the club “Conroe Country Cousins.” By-Laws were discussed and then voted to be accepted.
"The club is proud to have one of the charter members, Eleanor Allen as a "Life Time member."

HOSTING DUTIES
Plan to arrive approximately 30-45 minutes before the start of the dance. Normal dances start
at 7:00 and a dance with lessons normally starts at 6:00 p.m. The hosts needs to bring a
bag of ice and many hosts bring a special snack or dessert.
Turn on the four switches at the breaker box that are marked with "X". Let Gene Miller or the
President know if something is wrong or confusing about the breaker box.
The roll-out cart is kept in the closet with all needed supplies on it. Roll it to the kitchen and set
the BUNN coffee maker at the end of the kitchen bar and plug it in. It takes about 15-
20 minutes to heat the water. After heated, you can make coffee according to the directions on
the coffee maker. Initially, make one pot of decaf and 1 pot of regular coffee. Have water,
filters and coffee available to make additional pots as needed. It only takes about 4-5 minutes
to make.
Set up chairs in 3 rows between the restroom doors. Set up 2 tables for check-in, 2 tables for snacks between
the back entrance and closet doors, 2 tables for the caller, and 1 table on the parking lot side for purses and coats.
From the roll-out cart set up the registration table, the snack table, the coffee bar and the flag.
Refill the snack table baskets with spoons, forks, knives and napkins if needed. Put the small
cups by the coffee pot and the large ones by the water along with the marking pens close by.
Fill the water cooler with about 2/3 water and add the ice.
After set up is complete, position yourself near the front door and greet our guests and
members as they arrive. Make them feel welcome! During the dance, tidy up the snack table
and coffee bar as needed and make more coffee as necessary.
After the conclusion of the dance, rinse out the coffee pots, return supplies to rolling-cart, tidy
up the kitchen, check bathrooms and empty trashcans from the kitchen and bathrooms. Finally,
take the garbage out and place in outside can. Turn off all four breakers (marked with an "X"),
make sure all doors are locked and lights are off. The key goes to the next person on the set up
list.
Thank you
